Total Defeat of Terrorists Non-negotiable – DHQ

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) declared on Thursday that the defeat of terrorist groups in Nigeria is “non-negotiable.”

The Director Defence Media Operations (DMO), Major General Edward Buba, made the declaration on Thursday while briefing the newsmen on the ongoing military operations across the country in Abuja.

He said the troops are achieving tactical victories against terror groups.

Gen. Buba said that troops are engaged in offensives including ambushes, raids, patrols, and covert operations, while air assets are also heavily involved, conducting airstrikes on confirmed terrorist locations.

He highlights the elimination of several key terrorist commanders, including Nasanda, Ali Dawud, Bakura Fallujah, Mallam Ari, Babaru, Kamilu Buzaru, Ado Ailero, Mallam Yadee, Abdullahi Nasanda, Mallam Tukur, Mallam Umar, and Bello Turji.

He said: “Upon confirmation of the terrorist presence and the movement of terrorist commanders and their foot soldiers,. The targets were acquired, and fighter jets scrambled to carry out major bombardment raids on significant terrorist enclaves.”

The DDMO said that over 715 terrorists have been neutralized in recent operations while an additional 146 suspects were arrested, 465 kidnapped victims were rescued, and a significant amount of stolen resources were recovered, including weapons, ammunition, and millions of liters of stolen crude oil.

Similarly, on 19 Apr 24, the terrorist hideout belonging to a senior terrorist commander Kamilu Buzaru’s in Danmusa LGA of Katsina State was decimated. Then, On 20 April 2024, the gathering of senior terrorist commander Ado Ailero and Kamilu Buzaru’s in Danmusa LGA of Katsina State was disrupted by air strikes. Several terrorist combatants and the Commanders were neutralized in the air strikes.

“Other terrorist commanders engaged by air strikes include that of Mallam Yadee at Mariga LGA of Niger State. Then, the Enclave of Abdullahi Nasanda and Mallam Tukur in Zurmi and Gusau LGAs of Zamfara State. Thereafter, is the Enclave of Mallam Umar and several other commanders located in the Alawa Forest area of Niger State. Furthermore is Bello Turji’s Camp in Kagara Forest located between Shinkafi in Zamfara and Isa LGA in Sokoto. All the surviving terrorist commanders and leaders are walking corpses, as we would get them, sooner than later.”

He emphasizes the importance of maintaining momentum in the fight against terrorism. They acknowledge the strain placed on terrorist groups through infrastructure destruction, the elimination of combatants and leaders, and disruption of activities.

While acknowledging progress, the Buba recognizes that more work is needed to fully address the terrorist threat. They assure the public that the military is committed to achieving lasting security.
