Navy @68: CNS Ogalla Urges Renewed Fight Against Oil Theft, Maritime Crimes

The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, has charged Nigerian Navy personnel to renew their dedication with heightened focus and enthusiasm in the fight against oil theft and maritime crimes.

The CNS emphasized the importance of dedication, unity, and faith as key factors in achieving the Navy’s goals.

He spoke on Friday during special Jumat prayers organized to commemorate the service’s 68th anniversary.

Represented by Rear Admiral Zakariya Mohammad, Chief of Communication and Information Technology, Ogalla highlighted the Navy’s efforts to enhance operational efficiency and personnel welfare through strategic acquisitions and infrastructural development.

He reaffirmed the Navy’s commitment to national security and its role in achieving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “renewed hope agenda for national prosperity.”

“The Nigerian Navy remains grateful and committed towards sustained security of our maritime domain in attainment of Mr President’s renewed hope agenda for national prosperity,” he stated.

He acknowledged the challenges faced by the Navy but highlighted its steadfastness and numerous achievements over the past year.

Quoting from the Glorious Qur’an, Chapter 49 verse 13, Ogalla reminded the audience of their duty to remain focused on Allah’s tenet.

His word: “May the peace and blessings of Almighty Allah (SWT) the Most Merciful, be upon every one of us. I am delighted to make these remarks on this special occasion in commemoration of the Nigerian Navy’s sixty-eighth-anniversary celebration.

I give thanks to Almighty Allah (SWT) for making it possible to witness this anniversary.”

Ogalla reflected on the significant strides made by the Nigerian Navy in capacity building, acquisition of new platforms, infrastructural developments, and the welfare of personnel and civilian staff.

He emphasized the need for continuous prayers, steadfastness, and faithfulness, urging all to remain peace-loving citizens committed to principles fostering unity in Nigeria’s diverse society.

In commemoration of the anniversary, he announced the commissioning of several projects during the anniversary celebrations, including a 35-meter hydrographic vessel, two 32-meter fast patrol boats, and two 109 SP helicopters.

Additionally, the establishment of NNS MADUEKE in Enugu as a Special Operations Composite Base and plans for other bases highlight the Navy’s efforts to improve maritime security and combat criminal activities within Nigeria’s maritime environment.

Ogalla expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his unwavering support of the Nigerian Navy.

He encouraged all personnel to embody goodwill towards one another and to rededicate themselves with renewed focus and enthusiasm.

“Let us be of goodwill to one another, rededicate ourselves with renewed focus and enthusiasm towards achieving a prosperous future for the Nigerian Navy,” he noted.
