How Agric Ministry Created 60,000 Jobs in One Year – Abubakar Kyari

Senator Abubakar Kyari, Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, announced on Monday that the federal government has created nearly 60,000 jobs in the past year through strategic agricultural interventions.

Senator Kyari made this disclosure in Abuja as part of the Ministerial Sectoral Update, where he highlighted his ministry’s accomplishments under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The Minister also offered reassurance on tackling food inflation, citing various measures taken by the Ministry to boost agricultural production. These initiatives include the distribution of:

– 60,432 metric tons of improved seeds
– 887,255 metric tons of seedlings
– 138 value kits
– 501,726 liters of agrochemicals
– 62,328.5 metric tons of inorganic fertilizers
– 1,000 kilograms of fungicide
– 33,200 pieces of equipment to farmers across different value chains, aimed at enhancing production.

Additionally, the sector has received a significant boost with the provision of 2.15 million bags of fertilizer from the Central Bank of Nigeria, which will be distributed to farmers free of charge.

“Furthermore, efforts have been made to improve farmland security through the allocation of additional resources to Agro Rangers and other security agencies,” he said.
