Pest Control: FG Disburses N1.6bn to Support Ginger Farmers
The federal government, through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, has disbursed N1.6 billion to support ginger farmers affected by pests and diseases in Kaduna and Plateau States.
The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Kyari made this disclosure on Monday in Abuja, as part of the Ministerial Sectoral Update, where he highlighted his ministry’s accomplishments under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

According to the Minister, in response to the plight of farmers, the Nigerian Agricultural Development Fund (NADF) collaborated with the Kaduna State Government to provide improved maize and sorghum seedlings, as well as essential farm inputs.
He said a total of 18,000 bags of fertilizer and 61,250 units of assorted pesticides and fungicides were distributed to farmers. Additionally, a comprehensive Ginger Master Plan is being developed to facilitate self-sufficiency and promote export, thereby generating foreign exchange earnings.
Similarly, he said the ministry has conducted aerial control operation of 1,030 flight hours in frontline states of Adamawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, Taraba, Yobe and Zamfara to mitigate trans-boundary pests.
