Nigeria, Saudi Arabia Set to Resume Cargo Flight

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has announced that Nigeria is set to resume cargo flight with Saudi Arabia.

Mr Keyamo made this known during the presentation of his ministerial achievement at the special first anniversary edition of the Sectorial Press Briefing series organized by the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation on Monday in Abuja.

According to the Minister, “I just came back from Saudi Arabia, where I met my counterpart in the kingdom on his invitation, and we have agreed to resume cargo flights between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia.”

This development comes after a long suspension, and the Minister emphasised the significance of cargo trade, stating, “Globally, all cargo trade accounts for about 35% of world trade, attracting around 6 trillion dollars annually, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Unfortunately, Nigeria has been missing out on this opportunity.”

The Minister expressed his commitment to continuing interactions with other countries to explore cargo trade opportunities, saying, “We have achieved this milestone, and I will continue my engagement with other nations to further expand our cargo trade relations.”
