Counter-terrorism: MNJTF Nabs 57 as 176 Terrorists Surrender

The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) held an international press conference to update the public on the progress of Operation Lake Sanity II, which began on April 23, 2024. The operation involves troops from Cameroon, Chad, and Nigeria.

According to Major General Ibrahim Sallau Ali, the Force Commander of MNJTF, the operation has achieved significant successes in the past month. The troops have cleared several key terrorist strongholds in the Lake Chad area, including Doron Naira, Zanari, and Bagadaza.

The operation has resulted in the surrender of 176 terrorists and the arrest of 57 individuals involved in terrorist activities. The troops have also recovered a substantial cache of armaments, including ammunition, machine guns, rifles, and motorcycles.

Air interdictions conducted by national air forces from Chad, Nigeria, and Cameroon have been highly effective, neutralizing over 140 terrorists and destroying terrorist logistic bases and staging areas.

The MNJTF has acknowledged the sacrifices made during the operation, including the loss of six multinational troops. The force commander extended condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers and prayed for the quick recovery of the injured.

The success of Operation Lake Sanity II is a testament to the dedication and commitment of the troops, and the MNJTF remains committed to its mandate of creating a safe and secure environment in the Lake Chad areas affected by Boko Haram and other terrorist groups.

The operation has received support from national operations such as Operation Emergence 4 in Cameroon, Operation Hadin Kai in Nigeria, and Chadian national operations, as well as Sector 4 in Diffa, Niger Republic. The media has also been acknowledged for their continuous support and cooperation.
