Kano Govt Approves N5bn Fertilizer Purchase for Farmers
In a bid to enhance food security and support smallholder farmers, the Kano State Government has approved the purchase of fertilizer worth over N5.07 billion. This decision was made during the 15th state executive council meeting held at the Government House, chaired by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

According to a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the fertilizer will be distributed across the 44 Local Government areas of the state to support farmers, especially those in rural areas, to achieve high crop yields in the 2024 rainy season.
This move is in fulfillment of Governor Yusuf’s campaign promise to support farmers and ensure food sufficiency through agricultural transformation. The government had previously purchased grains worth billions of naira and distributed them to vulnerable people in the state to alleviate hardship.
The fertilizer will complement the production of the state-owned Kano Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO) and will be made available to farmers at a subsidized price. The Governor has reiterated his commitment to providing access to quality and affordable agricultural inputs to Kano farmers.
