Why I am Proud of PRNigeria – Dr. Bala Muhammad

Dr. Bala Muhammad, a senior lecturer at Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has praised Mallam Yushau Shuaib, the publisher of PRNigeria and Economic Confidential, as one of his outstanding students from the 1992 set.

Dr. Bala, who was a former spokesperson of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar when he was Nigeria’s Vice President made this disclosure while presenting a paper titled “Essentials of Reputational Risk Management for Information Managers” at a workshop organized by the Bureau Of Public Service Reforms (BPSR).

He said PRNigeria, a news agency, is a leading Crisis Communication and fact-checking platform in Nigeria, making the nation proud globally as a successful PR brand.

Dr. Bala said he was not surprised that the publisher of PRNigeria emerged as the Best Student in Public Relations with a Prize from the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in 1992 and continued to excel in the profession.

“I am delighted to have been his lecturer. It’s a teacher’s joy to see their student surpass them, and Yushau Shuaib is doing exceptionally well in strategic and crisis communication,” Dr Bala added.

In his reaction, the PRNigeria Editor-in-Chief, who spoke on “Artificial Intelligence, Social Media for Public Relations,” at the event said Dr Bala was not only a lecturer but a scholar who motivated and inspired his students to greater heights.

“I fondly recall the dedication of some of our teachers, who went above and beyond mere education by providing encouragement, motivation, and often substantial resources to ensure our success in our chosen careers.

“Mallam Bala stands out as one of these exceptional mentors, whom we hold in high esteem and cherish with gratitude.”

In his presentation, Shuaib said Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to the development of machines that can perceive, learn, and make decisions in a way that mimics human intelligence. According to him the machines are capable of performing tasks that typically require human cognition, such as problem-solving, pattern recognition, and decision-making.

“Effective communication, on the other hand, is the process of transmitting and receiving information effectively between two or more individuals. This involves the human activity of receiving, processing, and sending information in a way that ensures the intended message is understood by the recipient,” the PRNigeria publisher added.

Shuaib highlighted that the latest tools for PR practitioners, combined with skills in AI, can provide significant benefits. Incorporating AI into PR practices can save time in tasks, increase efficiency in production, improve accuracy, and enhance a competitive advantage.

“For example, AI-powered tools can assist in data analysis, content creation, and task automation, allowing PR professionals to focus on more strategic and high-value activities.

” By leveraging AI-powered tools and techniques, PR practitioners can enhance their ability to communicate effectively, reach target audiences more efficiently, and stay ahead of the competition in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.”
