IPRA Announces Belgrade as the Host of 2024 PR Golden World Awards

The International Public Relations Association (IPRA) has announced Belgrade as the host of the forthcoming Golden World Awards in Public Relations taking place in October 2024.

The Secretary General of IPRA, Philip Sheppard, in a statement, disclosed that the world’s most prestigious PR awards scheme has a number of entries that tackled on-point issues such as nutrition, climate change and the independence of the judiciary among others.

He said the GWA jury of experts met in person in the beautiful city of Zagreb, Croatia to select the winners from the shortlisted finalists.

“At an inspiring session in a hotel famed for hosting the passengers of the Orient Express, the entries were seen by teams of senior PR practitioners. The jury comprised judges from all over the world, including Bulgaria, Croatia, Egypt, Germany, Montenegro, Nigeria, Serbia, The Philippines, Turkey and the UK.

“This year, we had entries as diverse as they were creative. We learnt of stories fighting cancer in Peru, a grand hotel’s 150th anniversary in Greece, and protecting endangered sharks in land-locked Austria.

“The prestigious Grand Prix of the award scheme was also chosen, but the judges were sworn to secrecy. Along with the Global Contribution Award for PR to meet one of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, the Grand Prix will be announced at the GWA Gala on 18 October in Belgrade, Serbia. Tickets are available here,” he concluded.

The International Public Relations Association (IPRA), was established in 1955 and is the leading global network for PR professionals in their capacity. IPRA aims to advance trusted communication and the ethical practice of public relations. We do this through networking, our code of conduct and intellectual leadership of the profession. IPRA is the organiser of the public relations’ annual global competition, the Golden World Awards for Excellence (GWA). IPRA’s services enable PR professionals to collaborate and be recognised. Members create content via our Thought Leadership essays, social media, and consultative status with the United Nations. GWA winners demonstrate PR excellence. IPRA welcomes all those who share our aims and wish to join the IPRA worldwide fellowship.

The annual IPRA Golden World Awards (GWA) initiative, established in 1990, recognizes excellence in public relations practice worldwide in various categories. Recipients of the award take particular pride in the recognition granted to their entry as meeting international standards of excellence in public relations. An overall IPRA Grand Prix for Excellence is presented each year to the entry judged as representing the year’s highest standards. While there are many national and regional PR awards, there is only one truly global scheme: the GWA.
