Tragic Accident at University of Ilorin Leaves One Dead, Several Injured

A tragic accident occurred on the campus of the University of Ilorin on the afternoon of July 18th, 2024, leaving one person dead and several others injured.

The incident involved a commercial bus carrying ten passengers that was leaving the university campus. According to the university’s management, the lone accident occurred, and the university immediately launched rescue operations.

All the victims were rushed to the university’s health center, where they received medical attention from a team of personnel. One of the victims required more advanced treatment and was referred to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital after being stabilized.

Four of the passengers sustained minor injuries and were treated and discharged from the health center. However, five victims, comprising two males, two females, and the driver, are currently receiving treatment at the university’s health center.

Tragically, one of the victims was pronounced dead on arrival at the health center. The body has been transferred to the morgue, and the university management is working to contact the next of kin.

The university management expressed deep sadness over the incident and extended their condolences to the family of the deceased. They also prayed for a quick recovery for the injured victims.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, and the university has assured that it is taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety of its community.
