Yoruba Group Warns Against Protests in Southwest States, Regrets EndSARS Carnage
In a strongly worded statement, a Yoruba group has declared the streets of Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, and Ondo states as “no-go areas” for protesters.
The group, which includes the Traditional Oro Worshippers and the Yoruba Patriots Movement (YPM), has vowed to occupy every space in the Southwest region from July 28 to August 28, 2024 to perform traditional rites during the annual Oro festival.
The group has warned that during this period, no strangers will be allowed to roam the streets without the express permission of the traditional rulers in the Southwest cities, and staging any form of street protest will not be tolerated.

The statement, issued by Barrister Oladosu oladipo, criticized the EndSARS protest in Lagos, where “multibillions Naira manufacturing industries, factories and businesses were put on fire and destroyed by hired Idiots” while the Computer Village was spared.
The group also highlighted the looting and burning of Shoprite stores in Lekki, Adeniran Ogunsanya, and Awoyaya, as well as the burning of BRT buses in Ojota and Ebutte Metta, while the luxurious buses traveling to the Eastern region were left untouched.
The group has urged protesters to respect the cultural rights of the Yoruba people and seek alternative locations for their demonstrations, such as Abuja, Kaduna, Yola, Jos, Enugu, Port Harcourt, Owerri, Benin City, Sokoto, Yola, or Maiduguri.
The statement concludes with a stern warning, stating, “You Have Been Sufficiently WARNED,” and reiterating the Yoruba people’s stance: “Yoruba Ko ni gba gba ku gba ooooo.”
