NCPC Boss Urges Peaceful Protests, Warns Against Hoodlum’s Influence
The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Stephen Adegbite, has cautioned protesters demonstrating against bad governance in Nigeria to ensure that their actions remain peaceful and are not hijacked by hoodlums.
“We must not allow the protest to be hijacked by hoodlums,” Bishop Adegbite warned while briefing newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday. “The sad EndSARS protest in Lagos is still very fresh in our minds. We need prayers in Nigeria more than ever before.”
He praised President Bola Tinubu as “a compassionate and generous leader who has the interest of the people at heart.” According to him, “the President will not want to see the death of any Nigerian for whatever reason.”

In the same vein, Bishop Adegbite acknowledged that the current challenges facing Nigeria are part of a global phenomenon and advocated for dialogue to address the issues, warning that anarchy is not an option for the country.
“What is happening in Nigeria is not peculiar to us; it is a global phenomenon. We cannot afford to go into anarchy. We need dialogue.”
As part of his responsibilities, Bishop Adegbite emphasized his commitment to promoting peace among Nigerians. “Part of my assignment as the Executive Secretary of NCPC is to ensure that Nigerians live in peace.”
Additionally, he shared updates on the Commission’s activities, including the upcoming pilgrimage exercise scheduled for September, which will combine Easter and Main Pilgrimage from September to December 2024.
“From this month of August to December this year, we are going to experience the glory of God,” he affirmed.
“The Commission is on course, and we would soon start the Pilgrimage exercise in September, which would be a great success.”
