TCN, Amaltech Partner to Boost Local Meter Production
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a strategic partnership with Amal Technologies (Amaltech) to enhance local meter production and address the critical metering gap in Nigeria’s power sector.
This collaboration is part of the ongoing efforts by President Bola Tinubu’s administration to close the 7 million meter deficit in the country.
Dr. Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz, Managing Director/CEO of TCN, expressed his admiration for Amaltech’s innovative capabilities during a recent visit to their manufacturing facility. “I’m happy to be here. When I was coming, I was expecting to see a factory focused solely on meter production, but I’m really impressed with the diversity of products they manufacture, including gas leak detectors, chargers, and POS machines,” said Dr. Abdulaziz.
He described Amaltech as representing the “China of Nigeria,” highlighting its significant role in advancing the country’s manufacturing industry.
Dr. Abdulaziz emphasized the need for more meter manufacturers like Amaltech, citing the administration’s efforts to bridge the 7 million meter gap. “We need more meter manufacturers in Nigeria so we can save more revenue and reduce pressure on our foreign reserves. If we have sufficient meters, the losses incurred by distribution companies will be reduced,” he stated.
