TCN, Amaltech Partner to Boost Local Meter Production

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a strategic partnership with Amal Technologies (Amaltech) to enhance local meter production and address the critical metering gap in Nigeria’s power sector.

This collaboration is part of the ongoing efforts by President Bola Tinubu’s administration to close the 7 million meter deficit in the country.

Dr. Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz, Managing Director/CEO of TCN, expressed his admiration for Amaltech’s innovative capabilities during a recent visit to their manufacturing facility. “I’m happy to be here. When I was coming, I was expecting to see a factory focused solely on meter production, but I’m really impressed with the diversity of products they manufacture, including gas leak detectors, chargers, and POS machines,” said Dr. Abdulaziz.

He described Amaltech as representing the “China of Nigeria,” highlighting its significant role in advancing the country’s manufacturing industry.

Dr. Abdulaziz emphasized the need for more meter manufacturers like Amaltech, citing the administration’s efforts to bridge the 7 million meter gap. “We need more meter manufacturers in Nigeria so we can save more revenue and reduce pressure on our foreign reserves. If we have sufficient meters, the losses incurred by distribution companies will be reduced,” he stated.

He expressed confidence that Amaltech would receive government patronage and assured that TCN is committed to partnering with the company on metering initiatives. “TCN is the prince of the power sector, and without it, no one can exist,” he asserted, noting that the success of distribution companies is directly tied to the financial health of TCN.

In response, Shehu Tijjani Abdullahi, the founder of Amaltech, thanked the TCN boss for the visit and assured him of the organization’s support in fostering the growth of local content. Abdullahi also shared insights into the company’s mission and vision, stating, “Amal Technologies is a leading innovator in electronic manufacturing, specializing in delivering comprehensive technological solutions from concept to completion.”

He highlighted the company’s commitment to innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction, which has established it as a trusted partner in the tech industry.

Abdullahi further elaborated on Amaltech’s diverse product portfolio, which includes smart electricity meters, water meters, and point-of-sale (POS) machines, among others. “Our mission is to provide state-of-the-art products and services that meet the evolving needs of our clients,” he added.

Amaltech’s slogan, “Where Your Ideas Come to Life,” reflects the company’s dedication to turning any idea into a tangible, high-quality product through Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) and Original Design Manufacturing (ODM) services.

With a robust manufacturing infrastructure and a team of dedicated professionals, Amaltech is well-positioned to meet the demands of modern technological challenges, ensuring that their clients receive tailored solutions to their specific needs.
