NIS Launches Military Exercise for Border Security in North East
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has commenced a special operation, codenamed “Operation Border Sanity,” to strengthen border security in the North East region.
The operation is to prevent irregular migrants from neighboring countries from entering Nigeria, particularly amidst last protests.
In statement by Zonal Cordinator, ACG Sunday James, said the Comptroller General of Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap, has directed all NIS commands and formations to intensify border operations following a security assessment.

He said the Zone C Headquarters in Bauchi, will be covering Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Yobe, and Plateau States.
He noted that all Comptrollers in the six states under Zone C have been directed to enforce the operation in all divisional offices, area offices, outposts, and state headquarters for effective coordination.
The statement read in part: “Operation Border Sanity will step up refusal of admission where necessary, apprehend, ease out as the case may be of elements that are prohibited by the Immigration Act 2015.
“The Zone witnessed a very successful engagement all through and wants to keep the pace, by disallowing Irregular Migrants and others within the category of Prohibited Immigrants from entering, while lawful Citizens and Regular Migrants are processed with high-level professionalism and courtesy.”
