DICON-D7G’ll Drive Nigeria’s Security Infrastructure, Economic Growth — CEO

Following the historic signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on January 18, 2024, the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) and D7G Limited are making strides in their groundbreaking partnership.

The deal, signed by Major General AE Edet, Director General of DICON, and Osman Chennar, CEO of D7G, at the DICON Headquarters,  is  paving the way for a revolutionary collaboration in national security and economic development.

In an interview, Osman Chennar revealed that the partnership is progressing steadily, with significant milestones achieved since the MoU signing.

“We are committed to establishing Nigeria as a central hub for defense production, assembly, and maintenance, not only for Nigeria but for all African countries,” Chennar emphasized.

He said the partnership will see the production of MRAPs 6×6 and armed drones UAVs in Lagos, generate profits exceeding 300 million rounds annually and create substantial employment opportunities, especially for retired military personnel.

He added that the deal with the DICON Act 2023 signed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will facilitate transit services for the African continent while also contribute 20% of profits to the government Revenue purse.

At the long run, “the company will be also allocate 5% of profits to Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives for a transformative impact on Nigeria’s security and economy,” he said.

Chennar expressed optimism about the partnership’s potential, stating, “We believe in Nigeria’s strategic position and are dedicated to supporting the government’s transformative agenda.”

According to him, this initiative promises, “Establish a platform for foreign defense production and stockpiling, create an international petroleum products platform for discounts, implement a gold export platform leveraging quarter investors, develop cadet training vessels for Nigerian and foreign involvement.”

He added that D7G plans to provide job opportunities for 2000 Nigerians and 500 retired military personnel, focusing on exploring young Nigerian talents in various fields.

Chennar highlighted D7G’s commitment to Nigeria, citing their 2018 relationship built on trust and loyalty. “We demonstrated this loyalty when we brought goods to Nigeria without payment,” he said.

“With a focus on producing commercial products alongside security and defense equipment, the partnership is poised to bolster Nigeria’s economic prosperity by increasing dollar reserves and enhancing national security through defense and training initiatives,” he added.
