Military School Mates Reunite: NMS Old Boys Celebrate 50 Years
… Unveil Library Project at Alma Mater
Members of the 1974-1979 set of the Nigerian Military School, Zaria, in Kaduna State, have concluded plans to upgrade the existing library structure at their alma mater.
Chairman of the 74-79 set, Colonel Alphonsus Ayim-Odu (rtd), disclosed this at their ‘2024 Annual General Meeting and Reunion’ event held in Abuja on Saturday.
The AGM and reunion, with the theme: “50 Years of Legacy and Togetherness,” coincided with the golden jubilee anniversary of their admission into the premier military school.
He explained that members of their set gathered for the golden jubilee celebration with the sole objective of interacting and reflecting on their journeys at NMS and presently in life.

On what their ex-boys’ set is doing to impact their former college, Ayim-Odu, in his goodwill message at the meeting, said they have already mobilized and reserved the sum of N2 million for a library project at the school.
“We shall continue to support the development and progress of our dear alma mater and fellow colleagues,” he said.
In his welcome address, Dr. Reuben Jigah, Chairman of the reunion Local Organizing Committee, LOC, said: “Today, we gather to reconnect, bond, talk and think about our journey so far as classmates 50 years after, and more importantly to thank God for keeping us alive these 50 years as classmates, friends, colleagues and also to celebrate the memories we share for this period of time”.
A member of the set, Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolade (rtd), who was once the Director, Defence Information, DDI, said they were trained at the NMS specifically as leaders, and they have gathered to celebrate their accomplishments in various leadership roles and areas of engagements.
“And so far, most of us have been giving back directly to the school, while also contributing to national development, in extension. Again, many of us have positively impacted their communities in many ways,” he said.
