Nigeria Seeks Global Support To Combat Africa’s Security Challenges
Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has called for international cooperation to address Africa’s growing security threats.

jaSpeaking at the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), Tuggar highlighted the continent’s complex security challenges, including terrorism and transnational organized crimes.

He emphasized the need for global support to combat insecurity, citing the negative impact on Africa’s development, democracy, and foreign investment.
Tuggar specifically sought Japan’s cooperation, encouraging increased investment and support in addressing security concerns in regions like the Lake Chad, Great Lakes, Sahel, Sudan, and Somalia.
He proposed TICAD 9 focus on strategic infrastructure, foreign direct investments, capacity building, technology transfer, and empowerment of women and youths.
Tuggar also advocated for UN Security Council reform, supporting Africa’s quest for fair representation.
