Flood: General Musa Leads Service Chiefs to Borno, Promises Support

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has pledged military support to Borno State following the recent devastating flood.

Musa, accompanied by top military officers, visited Maiduguri on Thursday to commiserate with the government and people of Borno.

A  statement by the Acting Director of Defence Information, Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau, in Abuja, said during the visit to Gov. Babagana Zulum, the CDS said that flooding was unpredictable, making it difficult to mitigate and prayed that such incidence would never occur again.

He assured the governor the armed forces would continue to support him in addressing all issues that might arise as a result of the flooding.

Response, Zulum expressed appreciation to the military for being active in the rescue operations and rendering humanitarian services to mitigate the impact of the flooding.

He also thanked the service chiefs for personally visiting the state to sympathise with them.

“Without the support of the Military, by now we would have lost more lives”.

“I have asked the President when he visited to convey Borno State’s deepest gratitude to the military for all they have done during this critical period,” he said.

Zulum reiterated that insecurity in the state had improved  by over 90 per cent, adding that peace had gradually returned to Borno.
