Nigeria @64: Senator Buba Urges Collective Action to Overcome Challenges and Achieve Development Goals”

As Nigeria marks its 64th independence anniversary today, Senator Shehu Buba Umar, representing Bauchi South and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Security and Intelligence, has extended heartfelt greetings to citizens while urging a collective reflection on the nation’s challenges and potential.

In a statement issued to commemorate the occasion, Senator Umar acknowledged that Nigeria is currently facing one of its most significant trials since gaining independence. He emphasized the importance of self-reflection, cautioning against the temptation of placing blame elsewhere. “Rather than engaging in blame-shifting, let us all take a moment to look in the mirror and examine the issues at hand,” he stated.

Senator Umar called for unity across all levels of government as the nation strives for renewal and improved living conditions for its citizens. He urged President Ahmed Tinubu and other federal leaders to deeply reflect on the current hardships faced by the populace, while also noting some positive outcomes from recent government initiatives. “Our priority must be to enhance the purchasing power of the average Nigerian and improve access to vital services,” he said.

Highlighting ongoing insecurity as a pressing concern that exacerbates poverty and undermines living standards, Umar expressed optimism that with collective efforts and unwavering support for security personnel, the nation can overcome these issues.

In his appreciation of the All Progressive Congress (APC), the senator noted its role in fostering reconciliation and innovation at both national and state levels. He voiced confidence that these efforts would soon translate into a renewed sense of hope for Nigerians.

Turning his attention to Bauchi South, Senator Umar reflected on the tangible benefits delivered to constituents and announced upcoming infrastructure projects. “We eagerly anticipate the flagging off of vital community road projects, beginning next weekend in Zaranda town,” he shared, emphasizing the commitment to improve local infrastructure. Additionally, he reaffirmed efforts to establish a Federal Orthopedic Hospital in Toro and a Custom Training School in Bauchi, aimed at enhancing the quality of life in the region.

As the APC continues to engage constructively with the PDP-led administration in Bauchi State, Umar underscored the importance of transparency and communication regarding governance and fiscal allocations.

In conclusion, as Nigerians celebrate their independence, Senator Umar urged all leaders to recommit themselves to the service of the nation and its people. “By connecting with our citizens and empowering them to take part in this journey, we can elevate Nigeria to the greatness it is destined to achieve,” he asserted.

He concluded with a hopeful message: “Through our sustained effort and dedication, we will work tirelessly to alleviate the struggles faced by our people. May God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
