LAPRIGA Jury Sets Higher Standards for 2024 Edition

The Lagos Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) is thrilled to announce major updates for the 2024 edition of the Lagos Public Relations Industry Gala and Awards (LAPRIGA), themed The Shining Stars.

Recognized as one of the most coveted PR awards in the continent of Africa, LAPRIGA has set a new benchmark for excellence and creativity in public relations.

This year, the LAPRIGA Selection Committee, chaired by Mr. Muyiwa Akintunde, has introduced enhanced selection standards, emphasizing a clear alignment with public relations best practices. In a new approach, members of the Chapter will not vote for shortlisted nominees; instead, the Selection Panel will independently determine winners, ensuring that each award recipient meets the judging criteria to the highest standard.

Winners will be unveiled at the gala on Friday, December 13, 2024, in what promises to be an unforgettable celebration of achievement.

Announcing the new Selection Committee, Mrs. Comfort Obot Nwankwo, Chairman of the Lagos NIPR Chapter, encouraged members to submit their best work for this year’s awards. “We invite all members to showcase their finest campaigns and initiatives,” said Mrs. Nwankwo. “This is an opportunity to shine, demonstrate excellence, and set a standard in the field of public relations.”

According to a statement by Lagos NIPR Public Relations Officer Samuel O. Adeyemi, the Selection Committee will assess entries across categories such as Agency of the Year, Best Brand in Storytelling, and Excellence in Community Relations. Criteria will include strategy, creativity, measurable outcomes, and contributions to advancing the profession.

“The judging process will be transparent and impartial, recognizing those who excel in advancing public relations with integrity and impactful contributions,” said Mr. Akintunde.

Nominees will be announced on November 27, 2024, after a rigorous evaluation process. Eligible members can submit entries for campaigns conducted between October 2023 and September 2024, with the deadline set for November 13, 2024, at 8 PM. Nominees must have up-to-date national and chapter dues to qualify for final consideration.
