BUK Alumni, PRNigeria Centre Unite for Groundbreaking Conferences in Abuja
The Bayero University Kano (BUK) Alumni Association Abuja Chapter has engaged PRNigeria Centre in a strategic partnership to support its inaugural alumni get-together and other upcoming events. The collaboration aims to enhance visibility and impact for these events, designed to strengthen alumni connections and foster professional growth.
The Interim Chairman of the BUK Alumni Association Abuja Chapter, Alhassan Muhammad, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to Mallam Yushau Shuaib, Managing Director of Image Merchant Promotions Limited (IMPR), publishers of PRNigeria and Economic Confidential. Muhammad announced that the get-together and conference events are slated for the end of November 2024.
Muhammad outlined that the get-together would feature a series of engaging activities intended to build camaraderie and further the alumni association’s mission. “The event kicks off on November 23 with a health fitness walk, bringing alumni together in branded T-shirts and caps for a shared experience. This will include a novelty football match for men and a volleyball game for women, with Team BUK New Site facing off against Team BUK Old Site.”

The conference’s main event is set for November 30, featuring keynote addresses and a panel discussion led by Professor Abdallah Ubah Adamu as the keynote speaker. The day will conclude with a Gala Night at the Army Resource Center, creating an informal setting for alumni to network and celebrate their achievements.
Muhammad remarked, “We have an incredible pool of talent across the country, and it’s time to channel this potential back to the institution that shaped our lives and careers. We encourage alumni in influential positions to make meaningful contributions. Our mission is to support members facing employment or business challenges and foster unity and service within our community.”
The association’s leadership expressed appreciation for Shuaib’s dedication to youth development and his longstanding mentorship, which has inspired many across Nigeria.
In his response, Alhaji Yushau Shuaib expressed enthusiasm for the chapter’s initiatives. “Anything related to BUK is dear to me,” Shuaib stated. “The work by the Abuja Chapter to unite alumni is vital for our collective growth and solidarity.”
Shuaib also reflected on his experiences with alumni networking, mentioning the BUK Mass Communication Class of ’92 reunion, which merged with the broader BUK ’92 alumni group. That initiative has continued to host annual events, provide scholarships for underprivileged students, and conduct medical outreach programs, exemplifying the power of a united alumni body.
“An alumni network is more than a community; it’s a vehicle for reconnection, solidarity, and growth,” Shuaib said. “It’s about networking, support, and giving back. I am pleased to pledge IMPR’s support, including a comprehensive media package to promote this upcoming conference.”
Muhammad was accompanied on the visit by Dr. Husaini Yahaya, Chairman of the Fundraising Planning Committee, and Aliyu Umar, Chairman of the Publicity Committee for the BUK Alumni Association Abuja Chapter.
