Rivers Govt Denies False Reports of NNPCL Shutdown
Rivers State government has issued a strong rebuttal against a misleading social media report claiming that Governor Siminalayi Fubara ordered the shutdown of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and all oil companies operating within the state.

In an official statement, Warisenibo Joe Johnson, the Hon. Commissioner for Information and Communications, labeled the allegations as “spurious” and a product of “concocted propaganda” aimed at undermining the state’s leadership. He emphasized that the report originated from an “inconsequential and unverified medium” and had no basis in fact.
Commissioner Johnson reiterated Governor Fubara’s commitment to the rule of law and responsible governance, stating that the governor does not resort to “unconventional and crude approaches” in managing state affairs.
He urged Rivers residents and concerned Nigerians to disregard the false report, asserting that Governor Fubara has never contemplated or issued any directive to disrupt the state’s economy.
The statement aims to reassure the public of the governor’s dedication to maintaining a stable and lawful environment for economic activities in Rivers State.
