Nigeria Customs Service Addresses Viral Mosque Demolition Allegation at Idiroko Secondary School
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun 1 Area Command, has responded to a viral video circulating online, which alleges that the Officer in Charge of Building directed the demolition of a mosque under construction at the Nigeria Customs Secondary School in Idiroko.

Following an investigation, a, statement by the spokesperson of the command, CSC Hameed Bukoye Oloyede confirmed that the mosque construction project had not received formal approval and was not in line with the official master plan for the school and junior barracks premises. According to the NCS, the Command already has designated spaces for religious activities, including established mosques and a chapel at various locations within the border area, the Comptroller Area Controller’s residence, and both the senior and junior officers’ barracks.
A spokesperson noted that, under the current Officer in Charge of Building, a mosque in the junior barracks had recently been renovated and expanded, further demonstrating the Command’s support for religious facilities.
To address the situation and ensure mutual respect, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller James Ojo, personally intervened. He pledged to lay the foundation for a new mosque at an approved location within the premises and has committed to overseeing its construction in accordance with the Command’s guidelines.
In a statement, Comptroller Ojo urged stakeholders to remain patient and understanding, emphasizing the importance of respect in handling religious issues. He also called on the school administration to foster harmony within the community surrounding the barracks.
