Eastern Ports Police Crack Down on Riverine Vandalism, Arrest Notorious Suspects

The Eastern Ports Police Command has arrested notorious vandals behind of vandalization of port facilities.

The Commissioner of Police in charge of the Eastern Ports Police Command, CP Jimoh Moshood made the disclosure during a press conference.

Some of notorious vandals included Yiibari James, Price Odudu, Ernest Jack, Ubong Brown, and Odinaka Vincent Nwocha.

The Commissioner outlined the implementation of new, varied crime prevention and control strategies designed to proactively address criminal activities, with a focus on precise crime detection and rapid response.

Moshood emphasized the importance of collaboration with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and other stakeholders in creating a secure environment for marine commerce.

“Through coordinated intelligence gathering and surveillance, alongside vigorous patrols by Marine Police, we have undertaken sustained operations against criminal hideouts both on land and water,” Moshood stated.

The police reported multiple cases of attempted vandalism and recovered several stolen items and tools used in the criminal activities. The operation included intercepting wooden canoes and a range of stolen steel iron pieces.

Moshood expressed gratitude to the Managing Director of the NPA, Dr. Abubakar Dantosho, and his management team for their logistic support, which has been instrumental in the command’s operations.

He also recognized the contributions of the Rivers Port Manager, Mrs. Kenechi C. Okezie, and asserted the importance of community cooperation in preventing and combating crime.

“Timely information from the public has played a significant role in our recent successes,” the Commissioner remarked.

The arrested suspects are currently undergoing interrogation, with police intensifying efforts to locate additional suspects who remain at large.

Moshood reassured all stakeholders within the ports that the Eastern Ports Command is committed to ensuring a safe working environment for the NPA, port staff, users, and critical stakeholders.

He concluded by thanking media representatives for their support in disseminating important information to the public.

The Command’s primary aim is to eliminate criminal elements and ensure smooth operations across Rivers, Onne, Calabar, and Warri Ports.
