Ahead of Ondo Guber Election, CDS Musa Assesses Troops’ Readiness

Ahead of Ondo Guber Election, CDS Musa Assesses Troops’ Readiness

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, on Thursday has assessed  the preparedness of troops and security agencies for the upcoming Ondo state gubernatorial election on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

During his visit, General Musa met with Governor Lucky Aiyadatiwa and commended the military’s contributions to securing the state, particularly the 32 Artillery Brigade.

While addressing the troops, General Musa emphasized the importance of fairness and impartiality, stating, “Election should not be a war. We must be fair to all.

“Nobody should be partial. We must work together, respect citizens no matter how triggered, exercise restraint, and be firm”.

He also directed security agencies to support the EFCC in preventing ‘Cash for Vote’ incidents.

The CDS assured Governor Aiyadatiwa of the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s (AFN) commitment to ensuring a smooth and peaceful election.

He encouraged the troops to carry out their assigned tasks and maintain their neutrality throughout the electoral process.

 

Speaking on the issue of ‘Cash for Vote”, the CDS directed all security agencies to support to the EFCC. “Once we see such, we should report to the relevant agency.

 

The CDS also  addressed the  troops of Operation Safe Conduct, on standby for deployment to various sectors where the election will take place.

He charged them to be their brothers’ keepers, give their best and ensure citizens are safe while exercising their constitutional right.
