NSCDC Nabs Teenagers Over Alleged Gang-Rape, Blackmail in Ogun

The Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested eight teenagers for allegedly gang-raping a 14-year-old girl in Ijebu-Mushin, Ogun State.

According to Dyke Ogbonnaya, the command’s Public Relations Officer, the suspects, including 17-year-old Mathew Omotayo, took the victim to a secluded room and had non-consensual sex with her. They also recorded the incident and used it to blackmail the victim.

The suspects, who claimed to be students of St. Anthony Grammar School, Esure, Ijebu-Mushin, were identified as:Mathew Omotayo, 17, Mojeeb Solomon, 16, Olamilekan Adefuye, 18 and Damilola Ismail, 19.

Others are Emmanuel George, 17, Aborisade Paul Ayomide, 17, Paul Chukwuchebe, 19 and Lateef Adeoye, 16.

The victim reported the incident to the NSCDC Divisional Office in Ijebu-Mushin after she was allegedly beaten and verbally assaulted by the suspects.

A magistrate court in Ijebu has ordered the suspects to be remanded for 60 days, pending the outcome of the Department of Public Prosecutions’ advice on the matter.

The Ogun NSCDC commandant, Remilekun Ekundayo, emphasized that the command would not tolerate abuse of minors and that perpetrators would be dealt with decisively according to the law.
