Police Honour PROs at Conference in Asaba
The 2024 Conference of Police Public Relations Officers (PPROs) and Communications Experts wrapped up on a high note with a regimental dinner, marking the end of the annual event held from November 18 to 21 in Asaba, Delta State.
A statement by Police Spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the conference, themed “Strengthening the Nigeria Police Force Oversight and Accountability,” aimed to enhance the skills of PPROs in effective communication, police accountability, and public trust.
The event was graced by notable figures including the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM, who was represented by Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, psc. The IGP emphasized that the conference represents a significant step towards improved policing strategies.

During the ceremony, outstanding performances were recognized with awards presented to several Police PROs from various states, including the Federal Capital Territory, Bauchi, Anambra, Delta, Kano, and Abia. One special commendation went to ASP Julius Robinson, a tactical team commander in the Delta State Command, for his exemplary service.
IGP Egbetokun expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and the local communities for their hospitality and support in hosting the conference. He called on the public to embrace the innovations and ideas being introduced by the current Police leadership, which are aimed at improving oversight, accountability, and quality service delivery to foster the socio-economic development of Nigeria.
The event culminated in a regimental dinner, celebrating the achievements of the officers and underscoring the importance of collaboration between the police and the communities they serve.
