The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Adamawa has recorded no fewer than 113 cases of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and convicted two between January and Nov. 14.

Nyako Hamid, the Command Spokesperson disclosed this in an interview with media houses on Monday in Yola.

He said that the nature of the cases includes; child trafficking, abandonment of families, traffic in person, domestic violence among others.

“The command under the stewardship of Commandant, Idris Bande made huge success with regard to GBV in Adamawa by recording about 113 cases between January to Nov. 14, 2024.

“We have successfully convicted two persons using Violence Against Person Prohibition (VAPP) Law and the panel code law, one is ongoing.”

According to him, some of the cases were resolved by the command, especially cases of family abandonment.

He added that for the cases of trafficking, the victims were successfully reunited with their families.

Nyako appreciated the existence of a forensic lab provided by the Adamawa Government with support from United Nations Population Fund (UNPF) that facilitated their investigation.

He called on the general public to be reporting GVB cases to the command and other security agencies to ensure justice for the survivours.
