Social Science Theories and Tinubu Media Conglomerate

I love social scientific theories, they help predict social recurrences. Social scientific theories not only predict but also explain, heuristically, things people in power want to remain hidden.

It is nothing new for Tinubu’s media conglomerate to come blaring against anyone it perceives as the enemy of the current government, despite the fact that the government is the one willingly creating enemies for itself because of its elitist, anti poor policies and many PR blunders.

So, when the Nation newspaper comes down hard on Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, it is just testing the theses of the Media Ownership Theory. The media is an extension of man, as McLuhan theorised and the Nation newspaper is an extension of the Tinubu dynasty, doing all things unthinkable in the service of the dynasty.

Also, another social scientific theory that theorised about what the Nation newspaper is currently doing, is the Image Repair Theory. In its attempt at restoring the image if its financial and political benefactor, the Nation newspaper is still on the first postulate of the Image Repair Theory, that of denial, which is the weakest of the theses of the theory for one to engage in while trying to restore a battered image.

Wishfully, the Nation newspaper is also pandering towards scapegoating and shifting the blame unto others for the woes that president Tinubu has brought to Nigeria and upon poor Nigerians. This itself, has been predicted by another social scientific theory called Mimesis of Desire Theory.

Indeed, for students of social science theories know that Tinubu’s media conglomerate are still learning their ropes when it comes to defending their paymaster. For ages, the conglomerate was built on attacking others, towards galvanising the long time political ambitions of their footing the bill master, now they’re learning a new role: that of defending whom they’ve been used to washing clean.

Therefore, the Tinubu media conglomerate should not be throwing flames from leaking gas cylinders, least the inferno from their leaking cylinders incinerate them whole.

As for now, let’s go back to our social scientific theories for more wonders about using the media to carve a good image out of a rotten wood.

Good morning all and try to read some more social scientific theories.
