Man, 28, docked for alleged N2.5m theft of truck tyres, rims

A 28-year-old man, Emeka Michael, who allegedly stole truck tyres and rims worth N2.5 million, has appeared before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

The defendant was arraigned before Magistrate, Mr L.K.J Layeni, on a count charge of stealing.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in December 2022, at AML terminal in the Abule Osun area of Ojo.

He alleged that the defendant stole six tyres and two rims of a Mack Truck, valued at N2.5 million, belonging to a nominal complainant, one Mr Franklin Ifeanyi.

The prosecutor said that the defendant was eventually arrested following police investigations.

The offence contravene the provisions of Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The court granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The magistrate adjourned the case until Nov. 29 for mention.
