AMGA 2024 Demonstrates Africa’s Ability to Unite Against Common Challenges — CDS

 

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, has described the African Military Games (AMGA) 2024 as a reminder of the collective strength of Africa when united to confront diverse security challenges.

 

Gen. Musa made this assertion at the closing ceremony of the 2nd edition of the AMGA, held in Abuja, Nigeria.

The event, which featured  participants from 20 African nations, competing in various sports and promoting unity and cooperation among the continent’s military forces.

 

According to the CDS, the AMGA 2024 demonstrated the increasing solidarity and collaboration among African military forces, showcasing their discipline, training, and commitment to excellence.

 

Gen. Musa commended the participants for their sportsmanship, skill, and courage, stating that they had embodied the values of unity and resilience.

He remarks:“Over the past several days, the National Stadium in Abuja has been a hub of camaraderie, excellence and sportsmanship.

“We have witnessed a powerful demonstration of how sports can bridge boundaries, foster friendship and strengthen bonds among the Armed Forces of Africa.

“This year’s edition, featuring participants from 20 nations, is a testament to the increasing solidarity and collaboration among African military forces.

“The athletes have showcased not just their physical prowess, but also their dedication, discipline and determination, qualities that define the military ethos,” he said.

Musa also expressed delight that no casualties were recorded during the event, a testament to the fitness, preparedness and professionalism of the athletes.

According to him, this remarkable outcome underscores the discipline and training that are hallmarks of our military institutions again across Africa.

The CDS commended participants for their commitment to excellence, whether on the field, track or court.

“Each of you, by donning the colors of your nation, has upheld the values of honor, resilience and unity.

“To the victors, I say congratulations. And to those who may not have won medals, know that your participation has enriched this event and reinforce the spirit of the Games,”

He also expressed delight that no casualties were recorded during the event, a testament to the fitness, preparedness, and professionalism of the athletes.

 

The CDS thanked President Bola Tinubu and his administration for their support to the military and the successful hosting of the AMGA 2024 in Abuja.

 

He emphasized the importance of continued cooperation and mutual understanding among African military forces, promoting a safer and more prosperous continent.

 

Gen. Musa urged the participants to continue fostering the spirit of unity and cooperation, even after the games, to address the diverse security challenges facing the continent.
