Police Foil Terrorist Attacks, Raid Bandit Camps, Recover Arms

The Nigeria Police Force has recorded significant victories in its ongoing campaign against crime and criminality across the country, repelling terrorist attacks, dismantling bandit camps, and recovering arms and ammunition in recent operations.

The information was disclosed in a statement issued by the Force spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi today in Abuja.

According to him, in Borno State, police operatives attached to the Jakana Divisional Police Headquarters successfully repelled an attack by armed terrorists in the early hours of November 28, 2024. The attackers, who stormed the station around 1:00 AM, were met with strong resistance, leaving many of them with bullet wounds. While one officer sustained injuries during the incident, he is reportedly responding well to treatment.

Similarly, operatives of the Sokoto State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, carried out coordinated raids on November 25, targeting bandit camps and black spots in the state. The operations led to the recovery of AK-47 rifles and magazines loaded with live ammunition. Although the bandits fled upon noticing the operatives’ presence, efforts are underway to track and apprehend them.

In Delta State, police operatives acted swiftly on a report of an attempted kidnapping in Asaba on November 28. A hot pursuit of the suspects culminated in a gun duel, forcing the criminals to abandon their vehicle and flee into nearby bushes. The operatives recovered a cache of weapons, including three AK-47 rifles, two pump-action rifles, an AK-47 magazine, eight rounds of AR live ammunition, and 21 live cartridges.

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commended the gallantry and commitment of the officers involved, lauding their bravery and unwavering dedication to securing lives and property. He urged police personnel nationwide to maintain their momentum in countering criminal activities and ensuring public safety.

These successes highlight the Nigeria Police Force’s ongoing determination to neutralize threats and uphold internal security.
