World AIDS Day 2024: RAHAMA Initiative Calls for Protection of Rights of People Living with HIV

[Kano, 1st December 2024] — On this World AIDS Day 2024, RAHAMA Initiative joins the global community in raising awareness, challenging stigma, and supporting those affected by HIV/AIDS. With the theme “Take the Rights Path,” this year’s observance emphasizes the urgent need to protect the rights of people living with HIV, ensuring that everyone has the information and tools necessary to safeguard their health.

In observance of World AIDS Day, RAHAMA Initiative will host the Stay Safe HIV/AIDS Awareness Watch Party, bringing together a diverse group of voices—from health professionals and influencers to activists and local community members. This event will offer an opportunity to watch impactful content and engage in meaningful discussions aimed at raising awareness, promoting prevention, and fostering education about HIV/AIDS.

The Stay Safe Watch Party will feature impactful presentations, thought-provoking discussions, and opportunities for attendees to learn more about HIV/AIDS, its societal impact, and how we can each contribute to prevention efforts. Participants will also have the opportunity to connect with experts and activists who are leading the charge to eliminate HIV-related stigma and promote access to vital healthcare services.

Aisha Linatu Abdulrahman, Founder and Executive Director of RAHAMA Initiative, emphasized the importance of hope and action on World AIDS Day. “This day is not only a moment to remember those we’ve lost but also an opportunity to ignite positive change. By fostering understanding, compassion, and awareness, we can build a future where no one is left behind in the fight against HIV/AIDS,” she said.

She said, “RAHAMA Initiative remains committed to advocating for the protection of human rights through community engagement, public education, and media campaigns focused on HIV testing, prevention, and safe health practices”. “We believe that by providing access to the right information, we can empower individuals to take proactive steps in protecting their health and the health of others”, she added.
