Oluyede: Nigerian Army will Prioritize Troops Welfare, Rigorous Training

 

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Oluyemi Oluyede, has reaffirmed his commitment to lead the Nigerian Army (NA) with empathy and promised to ensure every officer and soldiers gets all their entitlement. The COAS stated this during his maiden operations visit to Headquarters 1 Division Nigerian Army in Kaduna as part of his tour of formations and units across the Nigerian Army on Wednesday 11 December 2024.

Addressing officers and soldiers during the visit, the COAS reaffirmed his commitment to leading the Army efficiently, prioritizing the welfare and professional development of personnel. He assured troops of his resolve to address accommodation challenges, ensuring that no soldier is left without proper housing. Lt Gen Oluyede also emphasized the importance of rigorous training to maintain a combat ready and result driven force. He urged officers to take ownership of their roles, uphold professionalism, and contribute significantly to the growth and efficiency of the Nigerian Army.

Earlier, the COAS was received in a well turned out quarter guard before being thoroughly briefed on the operational activities of 1 Division by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Maj Gen Mayirenso Lander Saraso.

The COAS leveraged on the opportunity of his visit to commission several key projects, including the 1 Division Officers’ Mess Annex at Dallet Barracks and the remodeled Corporals below Quarters at Kotoko Barracks, Ribadu Cantonment. Each of the commissioned block comprises 30 housing units, designed to enhance the living condition of personnel.

The GOC in his remarks, expressed gratitude to the COAS for the visit and assured him of the unalloyed loyalty and dedication of troops of the Division.

High points of the visit were interactive session with the troops and commissioning of various projects.
