Kamaludeen Balarabe Awarded NIQS Fellowship for Impactful Quantity Surveying
The Nigeria Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) has elevated Kamaludeen Balarabe to the prestigious rank of Fellow in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of quantity surveying in Nigeria.
Economic Confidential reports that the award, the highest professional membership grade, was conferred upon him by NIQS President Kene Nzekwe at the institute’s annual conference in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
A Distinguished Career Path
Born in Kano on August 3rd, 1980, Balarabe’s educational foundation was laid at the Kano State Technical College and Polytechnic, where he earned a National Diploma in Building Technology/Quantity Surveying. He further honed his skills with a B.Tech (Honours) in Quantity Surveying from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (2003-2008) and later pursued an Executive MBA specializing in Project Management from Nigerian Nile Turkish University, Abuja (2015-2016).
Balarabe’s career began with a stint at Standard Construction Company Limited (2000-2001) as a Site Quantity Surveyor for the construction of the New Kano State Library. He then gained valuable experience as a Site Supervisor at Co Bag Prime Nigeria Ltd (2002-2003) before embarking on a transformative period at Cox’a Integrated Limited. Starting with his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) service in 2008-2009, he rose through the ranks to become a project manager by 2013.
Balarabe’s expertise extends beyond his leadership role. He is a full member of the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN) since 2014 and holds a student membership with the Royal Institute of Chartered Quantity Surveyors (RICS) in London. He is also an associate member of the Institute of Corporate Administration, demonstrating his commitment to professional development. His dedication to technological advancement is evident through his membership in the Nigerian Association of Technologists (NATE).

Balarabe’s pursuit of knowledge extends beyond national borders. He has participated in key international events, including the Canadian Institution of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS) Congress 2023 in Calgary, Canada, and the International Summit on Livestock in Clermont-Ferrand, France (2024).
A pivotal moment in Balarabe’s career came in 2014 with the establishment of Kams & Partners. As Principal Partner, he has steered the firm towards becoming a leading consultancy and construction company with a national reach.
Notably, his firm has undertaken special intervention projects at various institutions, demonstrating his commitment to improving educational infrastructure nationwide.
Some of Balarabe’s landmark projects include providing consultancy services for perimeter fencing and high-impact TETFUND projects at the Federal University Otuoke and Bayelsa State Polytechnic (2023). He has also served as a TETFUND consultant for the Rivers State Federal Polytechnic Oil and Gas initiatives in Bonny.
His expertise has been sought after by numerous institutions, including LASUTECH, Obafemi Awolowo University, University of Lagos, Federal University Kashere, Gombe State University, Modibo Adama University of Technology, Federal University of Agriculture Mubi, College of Education Potiskum, Geshua College of Education, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, and others.
As a TETFUND consultant, Balarabe’s services have played a crucial role in advancing the facilities and infrastructure of institutions like Kano State Polytechnic, Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda, Biliyaminu Usman Polytechnic Hadejiya, College of Education, Jigawa State, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Federal University Lokoja, and Nasarawa State University.
