Communication Experts to Convene at Prof Gwarzo Public Lecture on Social Media’s Role in Nation-Building

A distinguished panel of communication experts and scholars will gather at the upcoming annual Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo Public Lecture in Kano to discuss the pivotal role of social media in shaping the future of Nigeria.

The event, organized by Adnan Mukhtar & Associates in collaboration with the Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo Foundation, will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Aminu Kano Centre for Democratic Research and Training, Mambayya House.

This year’s lecture, themed “The Role of Social Media in Nation-Building,” will feature prominent figures such as Dr. Sule Yau Sule, a renowned communication scholar at Bayero University Kano (BUK) and ranking Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and Malam Yushau A. Shuaib, the Publisher of PRNigeria and Economic Confidential.

Other include Dr. Musa Abdullahi Sufi, Dr. Bala Muhammad Tukur and Amina Ibrahim Idris.

The lecture aims to delve into the multifaceted impact of social media on Nigerian society, examining its potential to foster national unity: By bridging divides and promoting inclusivity and drive economic development: By facilitating innovation, entrepreneurship, and access to information.

It will also promote positive societal change by empowering citizens, amplifying voices, and fostering civic engagement.

The annual lecture commemorates the birthday of Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, a prominent Nigerian educationist, philanthropist, and the President of the MAAUN Group of Universities.

Professor Gwarzo is a visionary leader who has made significant contributions to education in Africa through the establishment of several universities and educational institutions. He is also a dedicated humanitarian, actively involved in providing scholarships to students and supporting community development initiatives.

This timely discourse will bring together scholars, practitioners, and members of the public to engage in a critical and insightful conversation about the responsible and effective utilization of social media for national progress.
