Arewa Coalition Slams Tchiani, Demands Action Against Turji, Terrorist Groups in Northern Nigeria
The leadership of the Arewa Youths Coalition for Peace and Political Development and the Northern Elders Progressive Group has condemned the allegations made by Niger’s Military Head, General Abdourahamane Tchiani, claiming that Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is conspiring with France to destabilize Niger. Describing these claims as “irresponsible,” the coalition has demanded a formal apology from Tchiani. They also commended Nigeria’s National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for his peace initiatives and urged him to intensify efforts against notorious bandit Bello Turji.
This declaration came after the coalition’s 8th joint meeting in Kaduna on January 1, during which they issued a strong communique addressing pressing national issues and the challenges confronting Nigeria’s northern region.
In a seven-point agenda, the leaders applauded the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to combat insecurity, particularly in the Northwest, where military operations under ‘Fansan Yamma’ aim to mitigate various threats. They urged political leaders and regional elites to collaborate in finding sustainable solutions to the ongoing challenges that have impeded progress and unity in the North.
