Adamawa: NDLEA arrests 536 suspects in 2024
The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested 536 suspected drug peddlers and removed from circulation 4,880kg of substances of abuse in Adamawa.
Mr Agboala Femi, the NDLEA Commander, Adamawa Command, said at a news conference in Yola on Monday that the arrests and seizures were made between January and December 2024.
Femi said notable among the seizures made were Cannabis Sativa, a substance that remains the most abused drug in the country.
“In 2024, the Adamawa State Command made a total of 536 arrests. These included 518 males and 18 females, underscoring the inclusive and non-discriminatory nature of our operations.

“This is a testament to our commitment to ensuring that all offenders, irrespective of gender, are held accountable for their involvement in drug-related crimes,” he said.
According to him, during the period under review, the command secured 148 conviction and 59 cases are pending at the Federal High Court Yola.
Femi said that on drug demand reduction, the command was committed to providing support for individuals, as 52 clients were admitted for counseling and rehabilitation, out of which 40 clients completed their programmes.
“In the area of preventive education, the command conducted 142 Drug Abuse Preventive Education (DAPE) and War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) programmes, which reached 85,285 participants across various sectors,” he said.
The commander said the fight against drug abuse was a collective responsibility, and called on all stakeholders to continue to collaborating with the agency to achieve drug-free society.
