Ogun Police Raid Kidnappers’ Den, Rescue Ex-AIG’s Wife, Recover N10 Million Ransom
Ogun State police operatives have successfully rescued Mrs. Odumosu, wife of retired Assistant-Inspector General of Police, AIG Hakeem Odumosu, after raiding a kidnappers’ hideout in Ikorodu.
The operation, which took place on January 23, 2025, led to the neutralization of two suspected kidnappers, the recovery of weapons, and the retrieval of N10 million ransom.
Mrs. Odumosu was abducted on January 16, 2025 by four masked gunmen outside her residence in Arepo, Ogun State. Her abduction prompted an immediate response from the Ogun State Police Command’s anti-kidnapping unit, which, with support from the Force Headquarters’ technical intelligence platforms, launched a manhunt for the kidnappers.

Through intelligence gathering and surveillance of the creeks surrounding Arepo, the operatives tracked the kidnappers to a swampy area in Ikorodu. At around 6:45 AM on January 23, they stormed the hideout, encountering armed resistance from the criminals. In the ensuing gun battle, two kidnappers were killed, while four others managed to escape, abandoning their weapons and the ransom money.
The police recovered four AK-47 rifles, three locally made single-barrel rifles, and a large cache of ammunition. Mrs. Odumosu was found unharmed within the creeks and was immediately taken for medical evaluation before being reunited with her family.
Commending the successful operation, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, praised the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, and his team for their bravery and commitment to combating violent crimes.
“This operation exemplifies the dedication and resilience of our police officers in ensuring the safety and security of citizens,” the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated in an official release.
The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying efforts against kidnapping and other criminal activities across the country.
