Soldier Killed, Dozen Injured as Vehicle Rams into Troops at Lagos Barracks
Tragedy struck during a routine military exercise in Lagos today, as a vehicle rammed into troops participating in a Bi-Annual Route March near Myhoung Barracks in Yaba, leaving one soldier dead and a dozen others injured.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army had announced the route march, a training exercise designed to enhance operational readiness, on various media platforms to create public awareness.
Despite this, the driver’s reckless actions led to the tragic incident.

The deceased soldier has been deposited in the mortuary, while the injured are receiving medical care at the 68 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Yaba, Lagos.
The 81 Division Military Police, in conjunction with other security agencies, are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Major General Farouk Mijinyawa, the General Officer Commanding 81 Division NA, has expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased soldier and prayed for the speedy recovery of the wounded.
He also called for calm among the public as the investigation commences.
He said the Nigerian Army remains committed to its training and readiness to discharge its duties, despite this devastating event.
The tragic loss will not deter the Division’s dedication to safeguarding lives and properties within its Area of Operations.
