Minister Orders Probe into Alleged Crimes in Delta Correctional Centre
The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has directed the leadership of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) to provide immediate explanations regarding recent allegations of criminal activities within the Okere Correctional Centre in Warri, Delta State.
The directive follows media reports detailing alleged illicit activities within the facility, raising concerns about security lapses and possible complicity of officials.
In response, the Minister ordered a comprehensive investigation, emphasizing that any officer found culpable will face severe consequences.

“I will not allow indiscipline to fester under my nose. Any officer found wanting will face the full weight of the law. The leadership of the Nigerian Correctional Service must provide explanations,” Tunji-Ojo said in a statement, issued by his media aide, Babatunde Alao.
Tunji-Ojo assured Nigerians of his unwavering commitment to transparency and accountability within the correctional system, stressing that those entrusted with the custody of inmates must uphold the highest standards of integrity.
He also called on the public to provide any relevant information that could assist in the investigation, reinforcing his stance that misconduct will not be tolerated in the nation’s correctional facilities.
