Bandits Neutralized in Joint Security Operation in Bauchi, Weapons Recovered

In a significant breakthrough in the fight against banditry, two suspected bandits were killed during a joint security operation in the early hours of February 4, 2025. The operation, led by the Alkaleri Divisional Police Headquarters in collaboration with Special Hunters, targeted criminal elements in the Gwana District and surrounding border regions near Taraba, Plateau, and Gombe States.

Acting on credible intelligence and leveraging community networks, the security team conducted surveillance in the Dajin Madan Forest, where they encountered the bandits. During the engagement, two suspects were neutralized, while others reportedly sustained injuries and fled into nearby bushes. The operation resulted in the recovery of an AK-49 assault rifle and nine rounds of live ammunition.

CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Bauchi State Command, emphasized the importance of the operation in a statement. “This operation highlights the commitment of our security forces and community partners to combat banditry and enhance public safety,” he said. “The Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in its mission to collaborate with community stakeholders, ensuring the protection of citizens’ lives and property while holding accountable those involved in criminal activities.”

The Nigeria Police Force and its partners have pledged to intensify efforts to maintain peace and security in the region. They also called on the public to view security as a collective responsibility and to support ongoing efforts to combat crime. “We encourage all citizens to work with us in creating a safer community where everyone can enjoy peace of mind,” the statement added.

The operation underscores the escalating security challenges in the region and the need for enhanced policing capabilities through community engagement. Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to help curb the rising crime rates.

This successful operation marks a step forward in the ongoing efforts to restore safety and stability in the affected areas, fostering an environment conducive to community resilience and security.
