OPERATION DELTA SANITY: Naval Troops Deactivate 29 Illegal Refining Sites in N/Delta

The Nigerian Navy has dealt a significant blow to crude oil thieves in the Niger Delta region, deactivating 29 illegal refining sites in January 2025.

The operation, code-named Operation DELTA SANITY II, is part of the Navy’s efforts to eradicate crude oil theft and other maritime crimes in Nigerian waters.

According to the Director of Information, Nigerian Navy, Commodore A Adams-Aliu, the operation has yielded impressive results, including the seizure of large quantities of stolen crude oil and illegally refined Automated Gas Oil (AGO).

“The Nigerian Navy is committed to safeguarding Nigeria’s maritime domain and promoting economic growth,” Commodore Adams-Aliu said. “We will continue to work assiduously to eradicate maritime crimes in Nigerian waters.”
