GNC President Condemns Sacking of UniAbuja VC, Calls for Fair Investigation
The President of the Global Network for Cybersolution (GNC), Segun Olugbile, has strongly criticized the sudden dismissal of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Aisha Maikudi, calling it unfair and unjust. In a statement, Olugbile expressed deep disappointment over the decision, urging the Minister of Education to have instituted a panel of inquiry to investigate any disputes among university leadership before taking such drastic action.
“I am extremely unhappy about this sacking,” Olugbile stated. “A panel of inquiry could have been established to fairly investigate the disputes among the aggrieved members of the university leadership. Why would a young, vibrant, and promising scholar be dismissed so abruptly?”
The GNC President questioned the rationale behind the termination, noting that no official reason had been provided for the decision. He raised concerns about the possible implications on Professor Maikudi’s career and personal well-being, emphasizing that she deserved due process.

“What impact do we expect this sacking to have on the former VC? Is she being treated so unfairly as if she were an orphan?” he asked. “Could it be related to corruption or abuse of her position? There has been no reason provided for her dismissal! She deserves fair and just treatment.”
Olugbile further criticized the presidency’s role in the matter, arguing that abruptly dismissing a distinguished academic without justification could set a dangerous precedent. He urged authorities to reconsider their approach to handling university leadership disputes.
“We should consider what it would feel like to be in her position and imagine the destructive impact such a sudden termination could have on her career,” he warned. “How can the presidency simply cut off such a talented and respected woman just like this?”
He commended Professor Maikudi’s dedication to academic excellence and career progression, adding that her contributions to the university community spoke volumes. According to him, the manner of her dismissal reflects deeper issues within the governance of higher education institutions in the country.
“Honestly, I am very disappointed,” Olugbile concluded. “There is something fundamentally wrong with this decision. Providence teaches us that what goes around comes around, often with bitter consequences.”
The dismissal of Professor Maikudi has sparked controversy, with many stakeholders calling for transparency in the decision-making process. As debates continue, the demand for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding her removal grows louder.
