Troops Decimate Terrorist Network in Zamfara, Sokoto, Neutralize Bandits’ Kingpins

Operation FANSAN YAMMA has recorded a major victory against terrorist activities in Zamfara and parts of Sokoto State, neutralizing dozens of insurgents, including several key kingpins, between February 1st and 10th, 2025.

Among those killed are notorious terrorist leaders Kachalla Na Faransa, Dogon Bakkwalo, Auta Gobaje, and Dan Mai Dutsi.  These individuals were eliminated during intense fighting in the Shinkafi and Zurmi Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Zamfara State and the Isa LGA of Sokoto State.  The operation has severely disrupted the terrorists’ network and dismantled their support infrastructure, crippling their ability to operate effectively.

Troops also targeted and destroyed approximately 40 terrorist hideouts, including key locations such as Tungar Fulani, Unguwar Goga, Gangara Hill, and Gidan Maji.  This extensive offensive has dealt a significant blow to the terrorists’ logistical and operational capabilities in the Northwest region.

In addition to the neutralization of key figures and the destruction of hideouts, troops recovered a substantial cache of arms and ammunition, further hindering the terrorists’ ability to launch attacks.  In a separate success, dozens of kidnapped victims were rescued during the operations, bringing relief to affected communities.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA remains committed to eradicating terrorism in Northwest Nigeria and Niger State.  The operation urges the public to continue providing information on fleeing terrorists, including Bello Turji and his associates, assuring that all information received will be treated with strict confidentiality.

“Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma assure all citizens that their contributions will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and respect,” stated Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre for Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in a press statement released on February 12, 2025.
