Troops Advised to Secure Families’ Health Insurance Before Deployment
The Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force, Operation Fansan Yamma, Major General Oluyinka Soyele, has urged troops preparing for operations to ensure their families are well-informed about available health insurance schemes before deployment.
General Soyele made this call during a courtesy visit by the State Manager of Defence Health Management Limited (DHML), Colonel Abdullahi Gambo (retired), on February 12, 2025, in Gusau, Zamfara State. He emphasized that the well-being of both troops and their families is critical to maintaining focus during military operations.
“The health of our personnel and their families should not be a source of distraction on the battlefield. Troops must take full advantage of health insurance options to guarantee their families’ well-being while they serve,” he stated.

Colonel Gambo highlighted that his visit was part of a broader sensitization campaign across military formations in Zamfara State, aimed at increasing awareness of the health benefits available to service members and their dependents. He stressed that ensuring troops have access to comprehensive healthcare information can help alleviate anxieties that may affect their readiness and morale.
He also commended Operation Fansan Yamma for its recent successes in combatting terrorism in the North West and parts of Niger State. DHML, he assured, remains committed to providing efficient and effective healthcare services to military personnel and their families, reinforcing the synergy between operational readiness and healthcare support.
The meeting further solidified the partnership between DHML and the military, ensuring that soldiers and their families are well-supported in all aspects of their well-being.
