Third-Estate Group Denounces Ilorin Ritual Killings, Demands Justice
The Third Estate Group (Ilorin Emirate) has strongly condemned the recent gruesome ritual killing in the Emirate, expressing deep concern over the increasing prevalence of such barbaric acts.
The group, a respected socio-cultural organization within the Emirate, described the brutal murder and dismemberment of Lawal Hafsoh Yetunde, a final-year student at the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, as both shocking and unacceptable.
The alleged perpetrator, Abdulrahman Mohd Ballo, a self-proclaimed cleric who goes by the name “Alfa,” is said to have committed this heinous crime under the pretext of ritual practices—an act that has sparked widespread outrage within the community.
In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Shuaib Ibrahim, the Third Estate Group decried the barbaric act, emphasizing that Ilorin Emirate has historically been a society deeply rooted in Islamic teachings and moral values.

“For generations, Ilorin has been recognized as a religious and morally upright community. From a young age, our children are taught the principles of Islam, instilling a deep sense of morality in their conduct. Even those born outside the Emirate are raised with these values,” the statement noted.
The group further lamented that it was unimaginable and deeply distressing that a native of Ilorin, masquerading as a cleric, would engage in such an abhorrent act, betraying the very moral foundation upon which the Emirate stands.
The Third Estate Group reaffirmed its commitment to standing with His Royal Highness, the Emir of Ilorin, and all concerned groups and individuals in unequivocally condemning the ignorant and evil belief in ritual killings as a shortcut to wealth.
The group called on security agencies to ensure that justice is swiftly served and urged religious and traditional leaders to intensify efforts in moral and ethical reorientation to prevent the spread of such destructive ideologies.
