DSS Seeks Redress Over Alleged Invasion of LSHA
The Department of State Services (DSS) has demanded an apology and retraction from two television stations and other media platforms over reports alleging that its operatives invaded the Lagos State House of Assembly (LSHA) on Monday.
In a letter dated February 17, 2025, titled “False, Defamatory, and Malicious Publication Concerning the State Security Service (DSS) Regarding Their Presence at the Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday, February 17, 2025,” the DSS, through its legal representatives, Adedipe and Adedipe, called for an immediate retraction of the story and a public apology.

According to the DSS legal counsel, despite clear evidence that the Clerk of the Assembly had invited DSS and police personnel to secure the premises amid fears of a possible attack by hoodlums, the media houses still ran reports alleging that the operatives stormed the Assembly in a Gestapo-style invasion.
The Service has given the media organizations seven (7) days to issue public apologies, to be aired five times daily over three consecutive days. Failure to comply, the letter warned, would result in legal action.
It would be recalled that some media outlets had reported that the DSS forcibly stormed the Lagos State House of Assembly to disrupt legislative proceedings, a claim that contradicts the facts, as the DSS asserts it was carrying out its statutory security duties upon invitation.
