Troops Neutralize Boko Haram Fighters in Borno, Capture Key Terrorist Collaborator in Fresh Onslaught
In a series of coordinated counterterrorism operations, Nigerian Army troops have struck terrorist hideouts, neutralizing multiple insurgents and capturing a notorious ransom facilitator linked to bandits.
On February 17, 2025, troops launched a high-impact raid on Iza forest in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State, a known Boko Haram enclave. The assault left 10 terrorists dead, while several others fled. Security forces recovered two AK-47 rifles and two magazines loaded with ammunition in a mop-up operation.

In another offensive, troops ambushed bandits at a known crossing point in Tunfa village, Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State. One terrorist was neutralized, and a high-profile suspect linked to the Sani Black terrorist faction was captured. Acting on his confession, troops stormed a bandit hideout in Tunga village, destroying their operational base and arresting multiple suspects.
Additionally, military operatives acting on precise intelligence arrested a suspected terrorist at Illela Market in Sokoto State, further tightening security measures in the region.
Commending the troops, Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, reiterated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and called on citizens to provide credible intelligence in the ongoing fight against insurgency.
