NCC, Lagos State Partner on Telecommunications Enhancement in Nigeria

In a significant move towards enhancing telecommunications infrastructure and service delivery, Dr. Aminu Maida, Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), met with the governor of Lagos state, His Excellency Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at the Lagos House, Ikeja. The meeting reaffirmed a shared commitment to addressing industry challenges and improving network connectivity for Nigerians.

During the engagement, Dr. Maida expressed appreciation for the warm reception and underscored the need for greater coordination and collaboration in overcoming obstacles faced by telecommunications operators, which directly impact service delivery to consumers.

A key highlight of the discussion was the implementation of the Presidential Order on Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII). Both parties agreed that nationwide awareness campaigns and strengthened engagement with key stakeholders at national and sub-national levels are crucial in minimising network outages and ensuring the resilience of telecommunications services.

The conversation further emphasised the importance of creating an enabling environment for the telecommunications sector to thrive.

Dr. Maida stressed the need to protect critical infrastructure from vandalism, a persistent challenge affecting connectivity and service reliability. By prioritising the security of telecommunications assets, Lagosians and indeed all Nigerians will benefit from improved network stability and enhanced digital services.

The engagement concluded with a renewed commitment to collaboration, ensuring that Nigeria’s telecommunications industry remains resilient, innovative, and future-ready.
